Im Rom der päpstlichen Verbote schloss sich 1690 eine Gruppe von Literaten zusammen und gründete die Accademia dell'Arcadia. In geheimen wöchentlichen Treffen wurden Opern, Kammermusikwerke, Konzerte und Sonaten komponiert und aufgeführt. Dorothee Oberlinger und der Sopranist Bruno de Sá haben nach ihrem internationalen Erfolg mit der Veröffentlichung der Live-Aufnahme von Bononcinis "Polifemo" ein Programm mit Kompositionen für Blockflöte, Sopran und Streicher von einigen der zentralen Komponisten der Accademia dell'Arcadia entwickelt: Alessandro Scarlatti, Giovanni Battista Bononcini, Arcangelo Corelli und dem "caro Sassone" Georg Friedrich Händel.
